Scotland’s Malt Whisky Trail has the distinguished honor of being the only one of it’s kind in the world. More than half of the whiskey distilleries in Scotland are located on this trail, and for good reason – it is an excellent source of high quality water and barley which are both needed to produce top quality whisky.

The trail takes you on a tour of some of the finest whisky producers in the world. Benromach, Cardhu, Dallas Shu, Glenfidditch, Glen Grant, Glenlivet, Glen Moray and Strathisla are all located along Scotland’s Malt Whisky Trail. Visitors are offered the opportunity to go on tours and experience tastings. The Whisky Festival takes place in September, and is attended by whisky lovers from all over the world.

When sampling whisky, the first thing to note is the smell. Second is the mouthfeel, or texture of the whisky. Lastly will be the flavour or taste. Taking the time to slowly experience whisky following these steps will help you develop an appreciation for all the different varieties of whisky.

Malt Whisky Trail in Scotland’s Speyside is definitely something everyone should experience. Travel to the area is easy, as access by car, boat, train, and airplane will be put you near or at the trail.
