In the wooded countryside of the Speyside Valley in Scotland is the historic Malt Whiskey trail. The trail is the only whiskey trail in the world, where eight famous distilleries are located, seven of which are working distilleries that are still in operation today.
The Malt Whiskey Trail is 70 miles long winding down the beautiful countryside of Scotland. With a history of traditional distilling dating back to the late 1700s, the trail offers visitors and tourists the experience of take a journey back in time to discovery Scotland’s rich heritage along with tours of the distilleries along the trail.
Each whiskey distillery located along the trail has it own unique process and procedure in the making of whiskey. Visitors get to experience taste offering tours, some of which offer “smelling” tours, which is a traditional technique used to utilize the senses of smell to determine quality.
Specialist tours are also offered along the trail taking sightseers around the major area of whiskey distilleries while taking in breathtaking views of the beautiful countryside.
During the months of May and November each year, the Malt Whiskey Trail holds whiskey festivals, which brings in tourists and visitors from all over the world to come join the celebration of one of the most historic landmark locations in the world.
